Day 13 in China during the Coronavirus

So, first thing I have to mention is how dramatic this morning (afternoon, since I wake up at midday now -_-) was when I looked at my phone. I had messages from my family saying ‘You have to get a flight home now! Things are getting out of hand and everyone is worried about you over here. ‘I’ll speak to you in the morning’… DAMN TIMEZONE! Making me think and wait for 8 hours until I can actually speak to them. Anyway, after reading the messages, the first thing I did was tell Zac that we have to try and get a plane home buuut it isn’t as simple as that as there are three main factors to consider. THE PETS.

Pet 1: Zeus

Zeus was our first adoption. He started off looking so cute and innocent, a little bit dog-like as he’s very placid and loves a cuddle. Then, he hit puberty or something because now we call him a dick. He is one for a few reasons. If something is on the table, he’ll just hit it off, for example; coins in a money box, paperwork, clothes, cups, anything that’s in his way, it’s going on the floor. If we turn our back for a minute, you can be sure that he’s in the kitchen with his head in the bin, taking everything out of the bag to push onto the floor, thank you Zeus. He also gets in the way of the TV when Zac’s trying to play on his PS4 but that’s not a big deal, he can carry on doing that. He does still love a cuddle though and is 6 months old now. Here is Zeus.

Pet 2: Lola

You have already been briefly introduced to Lola and her tricks, but she is the boss of the house. If she wants to go outside, then we have to take her outside or she’ll do a petty little pee inside of the house (she’s house trained) because she knows we’ll take her outside, very clever. Also, if she wants to play, then she will chuck her heavy-ass body on your head, stomach or legs, she doesn’t care where as long as she is in your face with a toy. She is very cute though, she’s definitely a mummy’s girl. She doesn’t tend to leave my side unless she sees food or is sleeping… though recently she’s been trying to be the little spoon when it’s my time to sleep and of course, I can’t say no to that face! Here is Lola.

Pet 3: Bella

Okay, Bella is the baby of the family. We got her when she was 1 month old for £10 from an alley way “pet store” in a really bad condition. She is now 3 months old and her health is perfect after nursing her for about a month and a half. Bella is a daddy’s girl, no question about it. As soon as Zac sits down she is straight on his lap, if Zac leaves the room she is there following his feet and I think she’s a tiny bit obsessed with him BUT Zac is obsessed with her! I think he’s talking to me, no no, he’s talking to Bella. I think he has a space next to him on the sofa for me to sit next to my fiancee (that’s normal) but no no, ‘That space is saved for Bella’… Okay, that’s a little exaggeration but you get the gist. She is very loving and sweet though. Here’s Bella!

Anyway, back to where we were, our pets are a factor of if/how we leave China as we can’t just leave them because they’ll die. Obviously, that isn’t an option. Although, there is a question of whether you would save yourself or your pets if it came to it. At the moment and hopefully not at all, we aren’t in any danger of being left with no food, no water, getting the virus (kinda) and there are still planes leaving from China. However, it did trigger some hypothetical questions in our house today of ‘If China completely shut down and you wouldn’t survive if you stayed here, would you save yourself by leaving or would you stay with the pets to make sure they stayed alive for as long as you could?’. Now, I like animals, not an animal lover but I love my own dogs (Zeus can be classed as a dog). Keeping that in mind, I think if it came to it – I would leave and save myself. I’m not selfish but I have my family that would want me to stay alive and I would want to stay alive too, I’m only 22, I (hopefully) have a long life left. Zac said he would stay with the pets as he knows I would be safe too. In my opinion, I think that’s crazy talk but he likes animals more than most people so I respect what he believes is the right thing to do… What would you choose???

Anyway, at the end of our very intense hypothetical question time we didn’t do anything else for the rest of the day so really, I don’t have anything else to say apart from the fact that I’m losing my mind!! I hate it when I have nothing to do, I seriously struggle. I have the attention span of a flea and then I get bored, if of course, it isn’t a necessary thing for me to do. I am a little mad though because I was supposed to workout today but then ended up eating about 6 Oreos and felt too fat to move (such a lame excuse). SO! Tomorrow I am working out! It will involve;

  • 100 Squats
  • 100 Lunges
  • 100 Press Ups
  • 100 Leg raises
  • 100 Sit ups
  • 100 Tricep Dips
  • 100 Back Extensions

That should keep me busy for a while. ALSO, I wasn’t going to write a post today because I was in such a bad mood about everyday being the same. It is really difficult doing the same thing everyday for 2 weeks (tomorrow) after coming back from the most amazing holiday in Thailand! We definitely were not ready for this but we are handling it as well as we can… even if that does include a few breakdowns here and there.

Oh and just to put your mind at ease, the elevators in our apartment block are getting sprayed with disinfectant everyday… Fabulous.
