Day 11 in China During the Coronavirus
Yes, we are going straight in at Day 11 because I started this Blog yesterday (Day 10), I’ll make you get the gist of the previous days as we go on. Anyhoo, the main points of today consist of;
- Increase in Coronavirus Preventative Measures
- Home-Workout
- My dog learned a new trick!
Today, we found that there was definitely a more intense atmosphere within our accommodation. Defining ‘intense’ as: Everyone is now wearing protective masks and gloves, people are staring at us whenever we go outside with our dogs (Golden Retriever and Chihuahua x Terrier), then earlier today, when approaching the exit we got told that we weren’t allowed to walk the dogs together. On our return from the walk, I got my temperature taken AND we got told that we shouldn’t take the dogs outside at all, of course we aren’t going to abide by that ridiculous rule. After reading the latest news it was possible the increase in measures was due to the latest article of China hiding the truth about the real statistics of the amount of deaths and cases caused by the virus. As a result, the public have decided to step up the prevention OR somebody in this accommodation has the virus and they are keeping it on the down-low! In regards to the dogs, it seems that people here are very sceptical as they believe that dogs spread the virus (myth). These are also the same people who believe that eating bats will make you see better (ABSOLUTE MYTH!).
For the Home-Workout… I HATE home-workouts! During normal times, I tend to go to the gym about 4 – 5 times a week, however, the gym is closed because of this damn virus! Anyway, I hate home-workouts because I just don’t get in the zone you know, I have music on and the dumbbells and a sofa cover as a yoga mat but it just isn’t the same as the gym. In the gym, you’re surrounded by all sorts of equipment, no distractions e.g. food and pets, and you know you’re there to get a workout done and to make it a good one, otherwise you have just wasted your time getting to the gym in the first place. Although, it doesn’t matter if I don’t like it, it’s got to be done because I know I’ll feel lazy and fat (I’m not fat, but I do have slight OCD about how lean my body is). Most days have consisted of some type of workout since being in isolation and to be honest they’re improving. I’m now thinking of more ways I can do the exercises/routine at home that I would usually do in the gym to make me feel like I’ve done a real workout and I’m not just throwing my bodyweight around. Today’s workout involved these exercises;
- Dynamic Warm Up/Activation
- Pistol Squats x Single Arm DB Shoulder Press – 3 x 10 e.s.
- DB Step Ups x Press Ups – 3 x 10 e.s.
- DB Single Arm Bent-Over Row x High Pull x Snatch – 3 x 10 e.s.
- Single Leg DB Deadlift x Frog Crunches x Alt Leg Lowers – 3 x 20
And now… I don’t feel like a lazy bum today, yay me!
In other good news, Congratulations Lola! Lola is our 6 month old Golden Retriever. The current tricks in her bag are ‘Sit’, ‘Shake’, ‘Lie Down’, ‘Stay’, ‘Come’ and ‘Heel’. She understands ‘This way’, ‘Leave it’ and of course ‘Walkies!’. TODAY, she learned to go ‘in and out’ of a line of 10 flags when pointing to the spots she should go-to, YAY! This is just so you get to know Lola a little better as she probably will be mentioned quite a bit as she is a major attention seeker.
MORE TO COME TOMORROW!!!
